Doa Bagi Pemimpin (Pray For Our Leader)

** Firman Tuhan: 1 Timotius 2:1-2 **

"Naikkanlah permohonan, doa syafaat dan ucapan syukur... untuk raja-raja dan semua pembesar, agar kita dapat hidup tenang dan tenteram dalam segala kesalehan dan kehormatan." 

       Situasi dan kondisi negeri ini terasa ruwet sehingga masyarakat bersikap skeptis dan masa bodoh. Penyelenggara negara --mulai dari pejabat eksekutif, yudikatif sampai legislatif, satu per satu digiring ke penjara oleh KPK karena kasus korupsi. Di kota besar, jalanan macet, kriminalitas mengancam di mana-mana. Sebagai rakyat biasa, kita bisa apa? Itu pertanyaan kita.

       Nas hari ini menunjukkan betapa vitalnya peran doa, bukan sebagai atribut kerohanian pribadi belaka. Paulus meminta anak asuhnya, Timotius, untuk berdoa syafaat bagi semua orang. Kemudian ia secara khusus menyebutkan para pemimpin bangsa yang berkaitan erat dengan jemaat dan kehidupan pelayanan.

       Dalam berdoa, kita meminta hal-hal baik dan berkenan kepada Allah, bukan hal-hal yang baik menurut anggapan kita. Doa meminta kehidupan yang tenang dan tenteram ini merupakan penerapan dari prinsip bahwa Injil ditujukan bagi semua manusia (1 Timotius 2:6). Injil mengungkapkan kehendak Allah untuk menyelamatkan semua orang (1 Timotius 2:4). Dengan berdoa bagi para pemimpin, kiranya kabar baik itu dapat disebarkan seluas-luasnya.

       Jadi, kita dapat menjawab pertanyaan tadi dengan: kita dapat berdoa! Jangan bosan-bosan berdoa. Kita berdoa agar para pemimpin dan warga bangsa ini dapat mengalami dan menerima anugerah keselamatan Allah. Kita berdoa agar umat Allah leluasa dalam beribadah dan melayani-Nya, dan kiranya Allah mendatangkan perubahan menuju kebaikan dan kesejahteraan bagi bangsa ini. 

KETIKA KITA BERDOA, KITA TURUT MENGAMBIL BAGIAN

DALAM PEWUJUDAN KARYA ALLAH DI DUNIA INI.

"Lift up a petition, intercession and thanksgiving ... for kings and all the princes, so that we can live in peace and security in all godliness and dignity."

 

        Situation and the condition of the country was complicated so that the public is skeptical and indifferent. State officials - ranging from executive officers, the judiciary to the legislature, one by one taken prisoner by the Commission for corruption. In the big city, traffic jam, criminality threaten everywhere. As ordinary people, we can what? That's our question.

        Passage today shows just how vital the role of prayer, not as a mere personal spiritual attributes. Paul asked his foster son, Timothy, to intercede for everyone. Then he specifically mentions the leaders of nations that are closely related to church and ministry life.

        In prayer, we ask for things good and acceptable to God, not the things that are good according to our assumption. Prayer asking for life who calm and of this serene constitute the application of from principle that the Gospel is intended for all humans (1 Timothy 2:6). Gospel reveals God's will to save all people (1 Timothy 2:4). By praying for the leaders, the good news would be shared widely.

        So, we can answer that question with: we can pray! Do not tire of praying. We pray that the leaders and citizens of this nation can experience and receive God's gift of salvation. We pray that God's people in worship freely and serve him, and may God bring about change for the good and welfare of this nation.
