Berserah (Surrender)

** Firman Tuhan: Daniel 3:18 **

" Tetapi seandainya tidak, hendaklah tuanku mengetahui, ya raja, bahwa kami tidak akan memuja dewa tuanku, dan tidak akan menyembah patung emas yang tuanku dirikan itu."

Ketika menyanyikan lagu, "Berserah kepada Yesus, tubuh roh dan jiwaku, " saya teringat akan pergumulan ayah saya dengan suatu penyakit terminal. Dokter mengatakan bahwa sudah tidak ada harapan untuk berumur panjang. Kami berdoa untuk kesembuhan beliau. Namun, titik terjadinya mukjizat berlangsung ketika ayah berdoa, "Jadilah kehendak-Mu, aku berserah kepada-Mu." Jamahan Tuhan terjadi. Ayah saya merasakan rasa hangat pada organ-organ tubuh yang sakit dan ia pun sembuh sempurna seketika.

Ketika menghadapi ancaman hukuman mati karena tidak mau menyembah berhala, Sadrakh, Mesakh, dan Abednego berserah pada Tuhan. Mereka mengatakan bahwa sekalipun Tuhan tidak menyelamatkan mereka, mereka tetap tidak mau menyembah berhala yang didirikan oleh raja Nebukadnezar. Pada akhirnya Tuhan menolong mereka. Sikap berserah mereka pada gilirannya membuat raja Nebukadnezar menyaksikan kuasa Tuhan dan berbalik memuliakan nama-Nya. Tuhan Yesus mengajarkan kita berdoa, "Jadilah kehendak-Mu" (Matius 6:10).

Rolland Baker, seorang pendeta, mengatakan bahwa iman bukanlah soal meminta Tuhan memberikan kepada kita sesuatu yang kita inginkan. Sebaliknya, beriman berarti percaya pada Tuhan dan pada kehendak-Nya. Meskipun mungkin berbeda dari keinginan kita, kehendak Tuhan itu baik dan sempurna, melampaui kehendak kita. Kita tidak tahu apa yang akan terjadi pada masa depan, tetapi Tuhan mengetahui semuanya. Marilah beriman pada-Nya!

** Scripture:Daniel 3:8 **

" But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."

       When singing the song, "Surrender to Jesus, body spirit and soul," I am reminded of my father struggle with a terminal illness. Doctors say that there is no hope for a long life. We pray for his recovery. However, the point of the miracle took place when the father pray, "Your will be done, I surrender to You." The touch of God occurred. My father felt a sense of warmth in the organs sick and he was perfectly healed instantly.

       When facing the death penalty for refusing to worship idols, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego surrender to God. They say that even if God did not save them, they still would not worship idols set up by King Nebuchadnezzar. In the end, God help them. Submissive attitude they in turn make the king Nebuchadnezzar witnessed the power of God and turned to glorify His name. Jesus taught us to pray, "Your will be done" (Matthew 6:10).

       Rolland Baker, a pastor, said that faith is not a matter of asking God to give us something we want. Instead, faith is to believe in God and to His will. Although it may differ from our desire, the will of God is good and perfect, exceeded our will. We do not know what will happen in the future, but God knows all. Let faith in Him!
