** Firman Tuhan: Mazmur 90:12 **
"Ajarlah kami menghitung hari-hari kami sedemikian, hingga kami beroleh hati yang bijaksana."
Pernah suatu kali saya ketinggalan pesawat gara- gara keasyikan ngobrol dan lupa lihat jam ketika sedang berkunjung ke rumah teman di Malang sehabis pelayanan. Ketika saya menyadari sudah hampir telat, saya segera menuju bandara dengan kecepatan tinggi. Tapi sia- sia karena ketika saya sampai, pesawat menuju ke Jakarta sudah diberangkatkan. Akibatnya saya harus membeli tiket baru dan menunggu penerbangan berikutnya walaupun hanya terlambat beberapa menit. Ketika menunggu, saya disadarkan betapa berharganya waktu. Terlambat beberapa menit saja, saya sudah kehilangan tiket pesawat dan kesempatan tiba di Jakarta lebih awal.
Kalau untuk penerbangan saja, waktu begitu berharga, apalagi untuk kehidupan yang kekal setelah kita menutup mata. 70 tahun rata-rata umur manusia kalau dibandingkan dengan kekekalan, tidak terhingga, tidak bisa dibandingkan. Artinya betapa singkatnya hidup ini sehingga setiap detik, menit dan jam yang kita lewati begitu berharga. Ketika saya menyadari singkatnya hidup ini, saya menjadi lebih menghargai waktu. Saya menyadari, perjalanan 70 tahun di sekolah kehidupan ini adalah perjalanan waktu mendapatkan kesempatan- kesempatan yang berharga untuk mempersiapkan diri memasuki langit dan bumi yang baru. Pada akhirnya, kualitas hidup ini bukan diukur dari gelar, jabatan, harta dan sebagainya, tapi hidup ini berkualitas ketika waktu yang ada kita gunakan secara maksimal untuk mengenal Tuhan dan melakukan kehendakNya sehingga Dia berkenan untuk melayakkan kita menjadi anakNya, bukan hanya status tapi sungguh- sungguh berkeadaan menjadi anak Tuhan untuk tinggal bersama denganNya.
Saya cukup sering melayani di kota- kota kecil yang bandaranya tidak memiliki landasan pacu yang panjang. Ketika pesawat mendarat, biasanya terasa kurang nyaman karena landasan pacunya pendek sehingga pesawat harus berhenti secara mendadak. Saya membayangkan, hidup manusia bisa digambarkan seperti landasan pacu. Semakin bertambahnya usia, landasannya semakin pendek. Kalau di masa muda seseorang tidak menggunakan waktunya dengan baik, maka kesempatan untuk berubah akan semakin pendek dan prosesnya akan semakin tidak nyaman sehingga hasilnya pun tidak maksimal. Selama kita masih muda dan memiliki kesehatan, penglihatan, pendengaran yang sempurna, kita memiliki landasan pacu yang panjang untuk dibentuk Tuhan dan kesempatan ini tidak akan bisa terulang. Melalui segala peristiwa hidup setiap hari, Tuhan sedang berbicara dan membentuk kita sehingga kita bisa bertumbuh sesuai dengan agendaNya.
Hidup ini luar biasa karena melalui kehidupan kita diberi kesempatan untuk mengenal Tuhan yang Maha Mulia. Kita diberi kesempatan untuk mengikuti jejakNya, hidup bagiNya dan dilayakkan untuk menjadi anakNya. Hidup bagi Tuhan bukan berarti harus menjadi pelayan Tuhan sepenuh waktu di gereja tapi berusaha untuk mengikuti kehendak Tuhan di setiap pikiran, ucapan dan tindakan dalam keseharian hidup kita. Oleh sebab itu, kita harus mengatur waktu dengan serius untuk gali potensi, sekolah, kuliah, bekerja, berkumpul dengan keluarga, olahraga dan yang terpenting dari semuanya adalah kita harus menyiapkan waktu khusus setiap hari untuk bersekutu dengan Tuhan secara pribadi, membaca Alkitab dan buku rohani, mendengar Firman Tuhan, ikut pendalaman Alkitab, sehingga kita semakin mengenal Tuhan dan memiliki kepekaan untuk mengerti kehendakNya. Bukan berarti tidak boleh jalan- jalan, melakukan hobi atau bersenang- senang. Kalau ada kesempatan, nikmatilah waktu- waktu tersebut, tapi bukan itu yang menjadi porsi utama waktu kita.
Walaupun harus menunggu lebih lama dan membayar tiket lebih, tapi masih ada kesempatan untuk saya kembali ke Jakarta dengan pesawat berikutnya. Seorang teman saya, setelah menderita sakit cukup parah, ketika pulang dari rumah sakit pola hidupnya langsung berubah. Dia menjaga makan, olahraga dan jam istirahatnya dengan teratur. Seorang saudara saya, sempat jatuh miskin lalu gaya hidupnya berubah menjadi lebih bijaksana mengelola uang, jujur, dan bekerja cerdas. Untuk setiap kegagalan di kehidupan yang sementara ini, kemungkinan masih ada kesempatan untuk berbalik dan berubah. Tapi jika seseorang gagal mempersiapkan diri untuk kehidupan yang sesungguhnya, ketika dia membuka mata di kekekalan, tidak akan ada kesempatan untuk berbalik. Gelar, jabatan, harta bahkan orang- orang yang selalu setia di sekitarnya tidak akan bisa menolong. Menyadari hal ini, kiranya berbagai kesibukan dan kesenangan hidup tidak mengalihkan fokus kita untuk mengumpulkan harta di Surga. Ketika kita mengenal Tuhan dengan baik dan mentaati kebenaranNya, kita akan menjadi orang- orang yang produktif, jujur, berpotensi dan bekerja dengan maksimal sehingga kita diberkati secara materi di bumi untuk memperluas kerajaan Tuhan. Melalui segala peristiwa hidup, Tuhan membentuk kita sehingga memiliki karakterNya. Kita menjadi orang- orang yang unggul dalam segala aspek, terutama karakter yang bersinar karena memancarkan karakter Kristus.

Once
I missed the plane because of a preoccupation gara- chatting and forget
see the hours when you're visiting a friend's house in Malang after
service. When I realized it was almost too late, I rushed to the airport at high speed. But in vain because when I arrived, the plane headed to Jakarta has been dispatched. As a result I had to buy new tickets and wait for the next flight, although only a few minutes late. When waiting, I was made aware of the preciousness of time. A few minutes late, I've lost a plane ticket and a chance to arrive in Jakarta early.
If for any flight, so precious time, let alone for eternal life after we close our eyes. 70 years of the average human lifespan when compared to eternity, infinity, can not be compared. That is how short life is that every second, minute and hour we passed so valuable. When I realized this short life, I have become more appreciative of time. I am aware, the journey of 70 years in the school of life is the trip time gain valuable opportunities to prepare themselves to enter heaven and a new earth. In the end, the quality of life is not measured by the title, position, wealth, and so on, but this life quality when we use the time available to the maximum to get to know God and do His will so that He deigned to bring up to standard we become His children, not only status but sungguh- berkeadaan truly become a child of God to live with Him.
I quite often serve in small towns that its airports do not have a long runway. When the plane landed, it usually feels less comfortable because of the short runway so planes have to stop suddenly. I imagine, human life can be described as a runway. The more we age, the shorter runway. If at a young age a person does not use his time well, then the opportunity for change will become shorter and the process will be more uncomfortable so the results are not optimal. As long as we are young and have health, vision, hearing is perfect, we have a long runway to be formed God and this opportunity will not be repeated. Through all the events of daily life, God is speaking and mold us so that we can grow according to its agenda.
Life is remarkable because through life we are given the opportunity to know God the Exalted. We are given the opportunity to follow in his steps, to live for Him and be fitted for His children. Living for God does not mean to be a servant of God full-time in the church but trying to follow God's will in every thought, word and action in our daily lives. Therefore, we must set the time seriously to explore the potential of, school, college, work, gather with family, sport and most important of all is that we have to prepare a special time each day to fellowship with God personally, to read the Bible and spiritual books , hear the Word of God, joined Bible study, so we get to know God and have the sensitivity to understand His will. Not that the streets should not, do a hobby or fun. If there is a chance, enjoy time- this time, but that's not the main portion of our time.
While we must wait longer and pay more tickets, but there was a chance for me to return to Jakarta on the next flight. A friend of mine, after suffering pain severe enough, when I got home from the hospital immediately changed the pattern of his life. He keep eating, exercise and rest with regular hours. My brothers, had become poor and his lifestyle changed to be more prudent with money, honest, and intelligent work. For every failure in this temporal life, the possibility is still a chance to turn around and change. But if someone failed to prepare for real life, when he opened his eyes in eternity, there will be no chance to turn around. Title, job title, property and even people who are always faithful around it will not be able to help. Realizing this, presumably busy schedule and pleasures of life do not shift our focus to collect treasures in Heaven. When we know God well and obey the truth, we will be the people who are productive, honest, and work with the maximum potential so that we are blessed materially in the earth to expand the kingdom of God. Through all the events of life, God shapes us so it has character. We become people who excel in all aspects, especially the character of shining because it exudes the character of Christ.
